Welcome music and film lovers – you’re home!!

Yes, you’ve arrived at The Vinyl Resting Place, an emporium of 45s, LPs, Eps, CDs, videos, DVDs and memorabilia.

Run by Chris and Barbara, our shop offers all customers bothold and new, an opportunity to wade through the years onvinyl and a select stock of CDs, from the 30s to the presentday!!

With 13 years behind us, we have built up a huge selection of vinyl, all nicely categorized; so if you’re a soul person you won’t have a rocker invading your space (and vice-versa). We cover all genres of music, plus spoken word, sport, comedy etc., on 7” and LP and our soul section is to die for!!!

We are also, probably, the largest stockist of videos in the South East (we refuse to give in!!) You could even marry up a video with the soundtrack – what a good idea, why didn’t we think of that!!

We love a challenge, so if you have a wants list, please e.mail or phone and we’ll do our very best to help you. Even better why not visit our shop and have a good rummage!! If you are looking for something you may think a bit crazy or daft we’ll probably have it!!

A brief history:

We started our business with a small stock of 7” and LPs arranged neatly in stack’n’store boxes on paste tables! Within weeks, stocks were swelling and we were soon building proper units and a stock room for back ups. We hadn’t realised just how many people were still keen on vinyl – the media telling us a different tale. How wrong they were. At that time we thought we knew enough about music to get by, but compared with a mile, we only knew an inch!!

2007

Thirteen years later…..We still continue selling and have gained
a number of record dealers from all over the world who visit three
or four times a year. However, we have had to concede that the internet has a hold on trade and we are, therefore, striving to get as much stock on our site as possible, but as we have an unbelievable amount of records it is an uphill battle. So, please bear with us and visit our site monthly to see additional items. In the meantime, of course, please contact us with any enquiries as we may have it in stock.

We have enjoyed our years here, reminiscing with customers about Streatham Locarno (remember Cyril Stapleton and Jeff Bailey?) , trying to pick up Radio Luxemberg and Caroline on the tranny!! Some customers turn out to be band members from the old groups of the 60s and 70s (nice to meet you guys).

So keep coming in with your stories and memories – we love it!

Please browse our site and we look forwards to seeing you at the shop soon.
